HERE WE GO AGAIN - another veteran officer leaves for higher pay and benefits

Today, FVPOA loses another one of its own. It comes as no surprise that Officer Dave Steele, a 19 year veteran of The Fountain Valley Police Department, has made the decision to lateral to another law enforcement agency. For the last 19 years, Dave has served the citizens of Fountain Valley with honor, respect, and pride. His tremendous work ethic earned him coveted positions within the organization such as Traffic Accident Investigator and Crimes Against Persons (CAP) / Homicide Detective. Dave is well respected by his peers and was previously awarded “Officer of the Year”.

Dave is just one of many talented and experienced officers who have left our department for better pay and benefits. While we are happy for Dave, we are sad to see yet another member of our FVPD family go. Losing officers like Dave is completely avoidable. When veteran officers lateral in order to seek out enhanced pay and benefits to better provide for themselves and their families, it’s not just our family that loses. The residents of Fountain Valley also lose. You lose an officer with 19 years of education, training, and experience in our beloved city.  You lose an officer that knows the residents intimately and how best to help, and serve the community.

Congratulations and good luck Dave!
